Rain, Rain Go Away

It's rainy here today and I wanna sleep!

Thanks to Mom, Dad, and Grandma Barb who posted some comments! (PS - Dad, you totally cracked me up on the "sleep tight, don't let the...oh, you know" thing!) Overall, sounds like fireworks were fun and the food at Grandpa's party was AMAZING. I am keeping myself full here with Nutella and Saltines. It's actually really good. It's hard not to lose weight here considering I am up from 8am in the morning to 1am at night, and we only eat at very specific times - 8:30am (breakfast), 12:30am (lunch), 4pm (snack), and 7pm (dinner). I usually will have another snack or something else during the day to keep my energy up, but we are running around all the time, so you can imagine how difficult it becomes to take some time away to eat.

I am off right now (it's the second activity of the day and I am supposed to get at least one activity period off), and I just planned my lesson for tomorrow - Valentines Day! Should be fun, we're making cards, learning about colors and shapes, and going to the pool in a nearby village! Also, there is a BOOM tomorrow night and I LOVE BOOMS! (I get a little crazy.)

I think Beef has gotten the hint a bit; he seems to have backed off quite a bit. Still, I find him annoying. Sorry for all those rooting for him. As for Leaf, I found out today that he is shaving his head on Hollywood Day (during the "blind barber" skit - I have the day off, but I may make a special appearance as the barberess), so he may not be as cute. (Or maybe he will be cuter! Who knows!) I get the feeling he is intimidated by me, but then again, lots of people are intimidated by me. (Actually, this is not me being vain, only being truthful. Sometimes, people are a tad bit overwhelmed by my personality.) He may be really friggin funny and sarcastic, but I can see through the confidence... I believe he may struggle with some insecurity. Then again, he is only 20. (So young, I know!)

About 2 hours ago, I played a wicked game of Cowboys and Commandos! It's too hard to explain on this blog, but it was super fun. There is this one part where you have to freeze (if you move, you're eliminated) and I had the best time trying to make the kids laugh. I shook my butt in front of them and tried to pick their noses. It was funny. They are really great sports about everything.

Also, McFly and my family had table duty today (which means that we set the table and clean up after every meal - counselors HATE being on table duty because it really sucks). OUR FAMILY TOTALLY ROCKS! They were so good about it; we were done super fast and it was all wicked clean! Awesome! The Baah family consists of Koko, McFly, Kurt, Urban Camo, Goku, Chris, Tom, Meggy, Vicky, Lois, Jane, and Bingo. (PS - I was on breakfast duty the other day, basically I had to bring the kids into eat around 8:15am, and I was way good at it.)

To be philosophical for a moment, you really can tell a lot about someone by the way they work with children. It is cool to see the counselors interact with these kids - everyone has their own style and way of dealing with things. It also teaches a WHOLE LOTTA PATIENCE, which is good for me because I don't consider myself to be a very patient person.

I forgot to mention that the building we live in looks like a saloon in one of those old cowboy movies from the mid 20th century. It was built in 1782! The date is next to the door and I thought it was the address! I am such a dumb ass!

I also forgot to tell you all that I got the coolest battle wound during Capture the Flag yesterday. I am uber proud of it and walked around like a jedi master all day. The very first play of the very first game, I made a run for the other team's flag from my side and tripped. I went down hard and totally scrapped both knees in the process. Not until I went to prison did I realize I was sporting two huge cuts in my left knee; they are both really deep and about an inch long. I was bleeding like crazy, but I took it like a woman. Plus, I grass-burned both knees and bruised my right one. Pretty nasty, but so cool. We (Pearl, the sanitary aid, and I) put some alcohol on it (OUCH!) along with some machurochrome. It looked as though I had rubbed red permanent marker all over my knee. I had to limp for a little while. (Kidding.)

Mom, I wanted to tell you that we make dreamcatchers here on Thanksgiving/Native American Day! But it is a pain in the ass to make them with 12 screaming kids..."Koko, look!" "Koko, help me!" "Koko, what now?" "Koko, I am finished!" AHHHHH!

There are little lizards and geccos all over the place here. It's cool.

We had a campfire on Saturday night and the smell made me think of home. Also, French smores are not as good. I sang a little tune I like to call "Stand By Me" around the fire for the children. It was good times.

One last thing. McFly is a cool girl, but she talks SO MUCH. I mean, SO MUCH. I get interrupted A LOT. Also, when she speaks with me, she looks at the side of my face, so I always think I have something there. It's really weird, but I think she has issues with looking people in the eye for extended periods of time.

Je vous aime!
